Job Summary
The Li Lab, now at the University of Michigan, develops innovative molecular and live cell-based therapeutics through synthetic biology, microbial engineering, and drug delivery. Research areas include engineering probiotics for intestinal diseases and cancer immunotherapy and studying oral microbiota-host interactions. The lab is supported by both internal and extramural funding sources
Responsibilities*
  • Coordinate with vendors for purchasing instruments
  • Oversee daily lab operations including reagent procurement and inventory
  • Manage IBC protocols for recombinant DNA, viral vectors, and human cell culture
  • Lead IACUC protocol management and support inspections
  • Act as lab safety officer, maintaining documentation for EHS inspections
  • Support research using bacterial/mammalian cell culture, qPCR, and recombinant DNA techniques

Required Qualifications*
  • High school diploma or Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree preferred in microbiology, molecular biology, or chemistry
  • Interest in technical aspects of cancer/rare disease diagnostics or therapeutics
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (centrifuges, microscopes, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and independent work skills
  • Willingness to learn new techniques as needed

Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience with molecular cloning, flow cytometry, immunoassays, cell/organoid culture
  • Strongly preferred: animal model experience

Modes of Work

This is an onsite position-5 days per week.
Additional Information
**This is a one-year term-limited position with the possibility of extension based upon need and funding. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
