Familiarity with fetal monitoring systems, electronic health records (EHRs), and obstetric equipment is essential. Labor and Delivery RNs often encounter challenges such as high-stress situations, unpredictable shifts, and the need to make quick decisions in urgent scenarios. Many hospitals offer ongoing training and support systems to help nurses cope with the emotional and physical demands of the role, promoting both patient safety and nurse well-being.

Their role is critical in identifying complications and responding quickly to emergencies during childbirth.
