Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse for a high-acuity Labor & Delivery assignment in Orange, California.
This is a complex, high-risk L&D environment requiring strong clinical judgment, advanced fetal monitoring skills, and full-scope labor and delivery experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This role is best suited for seasoned travel nurses who are confident managing high-risk pregnancies, assisting in surgical procedures, and working in fast-paced, high-acuity environments.
ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
• 13-week contract
• Night shift | 3x12 (19:00–07:30)
• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit
• Epic EMR
• Weekend requirements based on unit needs (may exceed every other weekend)
• No travel pairs
• Travelers expected to float within system if required
COMPENSATION
• Gross: $2,800 per week
• W2: $24.00 per hour
• Tax-Free Stipend: $1,792 per week
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Management of labor and delivery patients
• Circulate for Cesarean sections
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and procedures
• Perform fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Administer magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and antihypertensives
• Support high-risk pregnancy cases including preeclampsia, multiples, and fetal complications
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• High-risk obstetrics unit
• Complex patient population
• Fast-paced and team-oriented setting
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration required

Requirements:

• Active California RN license REQUIRED (in hand – no temporary licenses)
• Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery RN experience REQUIRED (HARD STOP)
• PRIOR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (no first-time travelers)
• Must have high-risk L&D experience REQUIRED
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections REQUIRED
• Epic experience REQUIRED
Certifications REQUIRED:
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• AWHONN Intermediate
Preferred:
• AWHONN Advanced
Additional Requirements:
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays
• Must submit ALL RTO at time of submission
• Must be willing to float within system if required
