Job description

Position Summary:

This position requires a self-driven, well organized Quality Assurance Receiving Technician who can exercise decision making skills and time management with little supervision. This position reports to the Food Safety Manager. This position supports the company's production facility with the responsibilities that are included below.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, verify, sample, weigh and test product for defects
  • Receive in and release raw materials
  • Send out samples for testing and release finished product
  • Placing products that don’t meet specifications on hold and following the hold process.
  • Observe and monitor production operations to ensure conformance and adjust if necessary
  • Work with the plant to comply with customer requirements and maintain high industry standards
  • Complete allergen testing and paperwork to ensure compliance
  • Monitor critical control points (CCP’s) multiple times daily
  • Support all required customer audits, safe quality food (SQF) audits, third party audits and internal audits
  • Conduct and document pre-operation inspections
  • Responsible for daily and monthly audits performed inside and outside the building
  • Label proofreading; paying special attention to detail
  • Comply with GMP, personal hygiene, HACCP and other quality and employee safety programs
  • Other duties as assigned by manager


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience of Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing with HACCP, GMPs and food safety programs is preferred
  • AA in science-related field is preferred
  • Basic math skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Physical requirements include lifting to 60 lbs., bending, standing, climbing and walking throughout the production area.
  • Ability to transition between production and office environment
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact when working with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
