Overview

At Butterfield Market, great design is one of our guiding principles, and food labeling is a vital part of how our products

are presented to customers. The Label Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that every product leaving our kitchen is

properly represented through accurate, attractive, and on-brand labels and signage.


This role also supports assisting our Purchasing Manager with administrative duties including placing orders through a

variety of vendors and processing orders through our Accounts Payable system. This position also helps with data input

through our recipe costing system and ensuring that the recipes are accurate.


About 50% of the time will be spent on label production and 50% on administrative support.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Signage & Labeling

  • Database Management: Maintain an organized, up-to-date label/signage database so product information is current and accessible.
  • Printing & Production: Print all required labels and signage daily in a timely manner to support kitchen operations; oversee both in-house and externally sourced labels (e.g., holiday, top sellers, juices, fruit spears).
  • Inventory Management: Track and maintain inventory of unprinted labels and supplies; reorder materials proactively to ensure continuity of production.
  • Software & Hardware Proficiency: Operate and troubleshoot label software, printers, and related hardware; escalate issues promptly.
  • Design Collaboration: Partner with the Graphics Team to maintain brand look and feel across all labels and signage.
  • Process Oversight: Manage the label order request form and ensure all requests are completed accurately and on time.
  • Detail Orientation: Uphold the highest standards for accuracy and design quality, reflecting Butterfield’s commitment to excellence.

Administrative

  • Assist with invoice administration for the purchasing team.
  • Assist with order placing when needed.
  • Administrative tasks associated with the purchasing department.
  • Enter and maintain accurate product and recipe data in Recipe costing softaware, linking photos and ensuring consistency with label content.

General

  • Assist Kitchen team with additional tasks as needed.
Requirements:

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality; a creative eye to balance aesthetics and function.
  • Proficiency with label creation software, database systems, and printing hardware; comfortable troubleshooting.
  • Basic photography skills (lighting, composition, and editing) and familiarity with digital asset management.
  • Comfortable using and learning new platforms (e.g., Reciprofity, Labeling Software, and Google Workspace).
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple requests, deadlines, store audits, and inventory simultaneously effective communicator and collaborator across kitchen, market, graphics, and IT teams; bilingual
  • (English/Spanish) helpful for daily communication.
  • Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and Docs/Word; grasps tech easily.
