Job Description

Must live a commutable distance to the laboratory.  Hours are Full time- 1st shift.  Compensation is $15/16 an hour (Depends on Experience)

The Laboratory Support Specialist performs non-technical laboratory support activities that enable chemists and analysts to maximize productivity and maintain efficient sample throughput. This position is responsible for sample movement, labeling, glassware management, waste disposal, laboratory organization, and general housekeeping functions while adhering to all quality and safety requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sample and Workflow Support
  • Retrieve samples from designated storage areas for laboratory personnel.
  • Return samples to proper storage locations following analysis.
  • Label planchets, centrifuge tubes, bottles, and other laboratory containers.
  • Assist with preparation and organization of laboratory materials required for testing activities.
  • Maintain sample organization throughout the analytical process.
  • Laboratory Operations Support
  • Wash, dry, organize, and distribute laboratory glassware.
  • Pop and prepare syringes and other disposable laboratory materials as needed.
  • Remove and dispose of consumed sample containers according to laboratory procedures.
  • Mark consumed bottles and samples in laboratory tracking systems or designated logs.
  • Assist with maintaining laboratory inventory and organization.
  • Housekeeping and Facility Support
  • Empty trash and recycling containers throughout the laboratory.
  • Sweep and mop laboratory work areas and support spaces.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work environments.
  • Ensure laboratory benches, storage areas, and common workspaces remain organized.
  • Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures, policies, and work instructions.
  • Properly handle laboratory waste in accordance with company procedures.
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Lab Support Technician (glassware, labeling centrifuge tubes, housekeeping, weighing samples…day to day tasks that are taking my degreed chemists away from working with samples, but these tasks have to be done)- does not have to have a degree, comfortable working in lab environment with proper PPE. (working on description now)

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous laboratory, warehouse, manufacturing, or production support experience.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.  Samples will be in coolers packed in ice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
