Job description

The Staff Medical Technologist performs clinical tests in one or more areas of specialization depending on the size and scope of laboratory activity.


Performs tests in all lab departments to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

            Performs all duties of technician and may assume duties of Senior Medical Technologists and/or Chief as required.

            Evaluates results of various procedures.

            Performs troubleshooting procedures on equipment after advising supervisor of problem.

            Participates in quality control program in the department.

            Maintains appropriate records and performs clerical duties associated with respective department.

            Assists in training students and/or new employees.

            In the absence of immediate supervisor, notifies physician of abnormal test results.

            Participates in employee evaluation process.

            Participates in total lab coverage either on shift basis and/or on call.

            Performs other duties as assigned


Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or one of the sciences related to Medical Technology and certification as a Medical Technologist by a national certified agency.
