Assistant Lab Technician - Sample Receiving & Accessioning
Location: West Sacramento, CA 95605 | Job Type: Contract
About the Role
Join a dynamic laboratory team as an Assistant Lab Technician focused on the vital processes of specimen receiving and accessioning. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant handling of samples for clinical and research testing. This is an excellent opportunity to build your laboratory career, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to process improvements within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive, log, and verify incoming specimens and samples
- Ensure specimens are accurately labeled and meet submission requirements
- Enter and QC sample data using LIMS and laboratory documentation systems
- Resolve discrepancies by collaborating with internal teams
- Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis and downstream testing workflows
- Assign unique accession numbers and facilitate sample movement
- Inspect specimens for quality, proper collection, and packaging
- Communicate with program management, clients, and laboratory staff to resolve issues
- Perform quality checks on deliverables, ensuring customer satisfaction
- Centrifuge, aliquot, and prepare samples for testing; maintain proper storage and chain of custody
- Maintain accurate specimen records and comply with lab safety/SOPs
- Monitor, manage, and restock inventory of lab supplies
