Job Description
Coordinates and supervises all employees and directs functioning of all hospital units in the absence of management. Acts as a liaison with physicians, patients, families and staff and is responsible for all operations activities on the off-shifts. Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating hospital and/or unit objectives, standards and policies pertaining to activities of nursing personnel, budget, and materials/supplies. Schedules personnel and makes patient assignments and ensures effective bed management activities. Facilitates communication and cooperation within and between hospital units and departments

Education And Credentials
Bachelor of Science from an accredited school of Professional Nursing required. Consideration will be given to individuals currently enrolled in a BSN program but must graduate within three (3) years of date in position. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Successful completion of BLS course required. ACLS certification required. PALS and NALS certification preferred
Experience
Progressive experience in Nursing to include two (2) years as Staff Nurse and two (2) years in supervisory capacity with demonstrated leadership skills preferred. Requires the ability for complex decision-making processes requiring independent judgment and critical thinking. Able to react and perform under stress and emergency situations. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
