Position Summary / Overview


The CMPT QC Metrology Engineer will work with a team of scientists and technicians within the Operations Lab team to perform, oversee and assure the quality of analytical testing used to release products across multiple plant laboratories. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining metrology, analyzing data, managing controlled documentation, and assisting with lab process improvements. This position reports to the CMPT Delaware Operations Lab Manager.

Key Responsibilities:


o Perform physical and/or chemical analyses or scientific tests using established techniques in compliance with all safety and control standards.
o Record results of tests, organize data, perform basic computations, and prepare reports and analyses using standard procedures and guidelines.
o Coordinate and/or perform calibrations, verifications, and maintenance of analytical equipment. Document results in site logs and databases.
o Monitor and maintain calibration standards and consumable items.
o Perform first line troubleshooting of analytical metrology, laboratory IT and data handling systems.
o Create and maintain controlled documents, procedures and test methods in accordance with site change management practices.
o Adhere to the Statistical Process Control (SPC) program for the analysis of metrology performance and product/process quality.
o Follow and train others to effectively use analytical systems, EH&S procedures and ODMS procedures.
o Monitor and ensure the effective operation of analytical systems and the lab's adherence to ODMS.
o Assist in adapting and implementing laboratory IT and data handling systems to the needs of the unit.
o Work with business teams to facilitate implementation and verification of new test methods.
o Comply with all safe chemical handling and disposal practices.
o Frequently travel between plant laboratories.

Required Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline

Metrology Experience and Discipline:
o Ability to prioritize and complete routine testing in a timely, reproducible manner independently and within teams.
o Knowledge of chemical safety protocols and PPE, and previous work in industrial and/or laboratory environments.
o Excellent communication, analysis, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
o Strong attention to detail to prevent and minimize errors.
Interpersonal
o Effectively operate in a cross-functional team setting, routinely working with other scientists, lab technicians, and plant operators.
o Good verbal and written communication skills
o Prioritization and project management skills
Learning
o Basic working knowledge of organic and analytical chemistry
o Thorough understanding of statistics and how to apply statistical concepts to laboratory data
Technical
o Experience with physical and/or chemical analytical metrology. Demonstrates knowledge of the fundamental theory, capabilities, limitations, and applications of analytical instruments used on a routine basis.
o In-depth instrument troubleshooting skills
o Proficient at developing and implementing analytical standard operating procedures.
o Proficient at developing test standards and carrying out complex standardizations and calibrations.
The candidate will work on the following shift: Day shift: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
