Job description

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. The Norcross Simulation and General Skills Lab Coordinator will be responsible for experiential learning across the curriculum; utilizing state-of-the art technology to enhance the student's learning experience. The Simulation and General Skills Lab Coordinator is a full-time faculty member, the twelve-month teaching contract with 33 credit teaching load with 27 of those reassigned for lab and simulation responsibilities. The Simulation and General Skills Lab Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, administration, and evaluation of the simulation and general skills lab. Simulation and General Skills Lab Coordinator reports to the Ivester College of Health Sciences Simulation Coordinator and the Mary Inez Grindle School of Nursing Chair of Academic Advancement.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Have a minimum of a master’s degree. Doctoral degree in nursing or related field is preferred
  2. Have a minimum of one year of nursing program teaching experience (2 or more years preferred)
  3. Simulation Lab Management experience strongly preferred
  4. Have appropriate experience in the practice of professional nursing and education
  5. Current Georgia nursing license in good standing with Georgia Board of Nursing
  6. Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers required
  7. Excellent academic credentials in teaching, scholarship, and service

Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities: This position will oversee all aspects of the Simulation Center and lab coordination of the ABSN, ELMSN, FNP, and AGACNP programs in Norcross, GA and report to the ICHS Simulation Coordinator. The primary duties of this position include:

Administrative

  • Plan, organize and coordinate the operation of the simulation and general skills lab
  • Collaborate with and supervise faculty and staff to plan and schedule simulation and general skills lab experiences, maintaining open lines of communication
  • Collaborate and facilitate the integration of simulation and general skills throughout the nursing curriculum.
  • Orient, teach, and supervise clinical faculty, faculty adjuncts, and didactic faculty in facilitation using the human patient simulation lab, virtual simulation, and general skills lab
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of student performances in simulation and general skills lab

Resource Management

  • Develop partnerships with affiliating agencies and community resources to ensure student achievement of program outcomes.
  • Help secure materials and supplies, and equipment for the general skills and simulation labs.
  • Make recommendations to the program coordinator for budgetary resources
  • Assist with recruitment activities
  • Program Evaluation/Accreditation Assist the program coordinator with reports from the simulation lab and general skills lab.
  • Assist with program evaluation in accordance with accrediting bodies requirements.

Environmental and Working Conditions:

Normal environment found in an educational setting. Some exposure to outdoors and varying weather conditions may be required.

Physical Demands and Aptitudes:

Some lifting and or carrying objects weighing 25 + lbs may be required.

Work Hours:

37.5 hours per week. Generally Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5p.m. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.

Home Campus Designation:

This position is an on-ground position in Norcross, GA.
