Laboratory Technician - Asphalt Binder & Emulsion Testing
Edinburg, PA

About the Role
Lindy Paving is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support testing and quality control of asphalt binders and asphalt emulsions. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with laboratory or materials testing experience who enjoys hands-on work and follows standardized testing procedures.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform laboratory testing of asphalt binders and asphalt emulsions in accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, and DOT specifications
  2. Prepare samples and operate laboratory testing equipment
  3. Accurately document, analyze, and report test results
  4. Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, and test logs
  5. Follow laboratory safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
  6. Assist with troubleshooting test results and equipment issues
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred)
  • Experience with asphalt binder and/or emulsion testing preferred
  • Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT test methods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to work with heated materials and lift testing samples
Preferred Experience
  • Materials testing or construction materials laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of PG binder testing, viscosity testing, and emulsion testing
  • Experience working in a quality-controlled laboratory environment
  • Valid driver's license
Work Environment
  • Laboratory setting with exposure to heated asphalt materials
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required
  • Standing, lifting, and physical activity as part of daily work
