Compensation: $31-36/hr
Schedule:  M-F, 1st shift
Duration: 12 months before conversion (contract may extend before conversion)

SUMMARY
As a Lab Operations and Facilities Sr. Associate, you will provide hands-on operational support across our laboratory and office environments, helping ensure our scientists and teams have what they need to do their best work. This role reports to the Facility Manager and partners closely with the Lab Manager to support day-to-day lab operations, while also collaborating with the broader scientific, administrative, and operations teams.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with the Facility Manager to respond to and resolve eWO (electronic work order) requests submitted by lab and office teams in a timely manner.
  • Institute management system for and maintain lab and facility inventory. Including tracking supply levels, placing orders, and coordinating procurement of lab consumables, equipment, and office supplies.
  • Support equipment troubleshooting in partnership with the Lab Manager, escalating and coordinating vendor service calls as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine safety equipment checks and inspections (e.g., safety showers, eyewash stations, fire extinguishers) and maintain documentation to help ensure compliance with EH&S standards.
  • Support incoming and outgoing shipping and receiving, including packaging, labeling, and coordinating courier and freight services.
  • Manage lab regulated medical waste and hazardous waste streams, ensuring proper segregation, labeling, storage, and disposal in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Assist with general lab and facility projects, including moves, space reconfigurations, EH&S activities and other ad hoc initiatives.
  • Provide office management support as bandwidth allows, including assistance with mail, supplies, front-of-house needs, and other administrative tasks.
  • Identify inefficiencies in lab and facility operations and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and support team scalability.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 1 year in an operations-specific role (e.g., lab operations, facilities, or a related support function)
  • Working knowledge of lab inventory management and procurement processes
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for common lab equipment
  • Familiarity with EH&S and safety compliance practices (e.g., safety shower/eyewash inspections, waste handling)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to lift/move materials up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
  • Collaborative nature, geared toward cross-functional teamwork
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Positive attitude, dedicated work ethic and flexible orientation for operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment
PREFERRED:
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific, lab-based, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in a biotech, pharma, or life sciences lab environment
  • Familiarity with biological shipping regulations (DOT).
  • Experience providing office management or administrative support
  • Experience with lab inventory or procurement software/systems
