Job description

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) is seeking a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our team in Bolivar, Missouri — someone who leads with skill, compassion, and a drive to positively impact every patient and family we serve.

Position Details:

  • Status: PRN, Non-Exempt
  • Work Shift: Rotating and partial shifts if needed
  • Hours: 39 hours every 2 weeks - 11am-9:30pm, 2pm-12:30am,

What Your Day Looks Like: In this role, you will contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of patients by collecting and processing blood and urine samples in an accurate and timely manner.

As a Lab Assistant, you will be:

  • Verifying patients’ identities and accurately entering this information into the computer system
  • Explaining the sample collection process to patients and answering any questions they may have
  • Following safe hygiene rules to draw blood tubes and collect urine samples
  • Securing, sealing, and correctly labeling samples, and following chain of custody protocols to send samples to outside testing sites when appropriate
  • Acting as department receptionist as needed

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required, and 1-3 months on-the-job training in phlebotomy preferred
  • Experience: One or more years of experience performing phlebotomy duties preferred
  • Licensure/Certification: Friends and Family CPR within 6 months of employment
  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking, ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance, and ability to perform duties requiring good vision and hand coordination
