Position Summary

The Laboratory Assistant II performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing. Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens. Performs phlebotomy duties as assigned. Oversees Front Office functions and ensures appropriate response to all phlebotomy requests during assigned shift. Assists in organization and storage of all Laboratory phlebotomy and office consumables. Performs and fulfills all HICS (Hospital Incident Command System) responsibilities as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency/disaster.

EDUCATION:

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Completion of Phlebotomy Program


EXPERIENCE:

  • Required:6 months of clinical experience.
  • Preferred:Above plus basic laboratory computer/laboratory information system experience.

  • Minimum:Not required
  • Preferred:Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Certification or National Phlebotomy Certification
