Job description

Job Title:        Front Desk Agent

Department:  Rooms          

Reports To:    Front Office Manager

Status:            Full-time, Seasonal

Pay:                $22 Hourly

Location:        Gurney’s Resorts & Seawater Spa, Montauk, NY

Job Summary:
As a Front Desk Agent, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, delivering exceptional service and ensuring their stay is seamless and memorable. This role requires a welcoming demeanor, outstanding communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, luxury resort environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle all aspects of the guest check-in and check-out process, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist with reservations, modifications, and cancellations as needed using OPERA and other relevant systems.
  • Provide exceptional guest service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues promptly, and offering personalized recommendations for on-site and local experiences.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate records of guest folios, ensuring all charges are correctly applied.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as Housekeeping and Maintenance, to ensure guest requests are fulfilled promptly.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports, including shift summaries and incident documentation.
  • Maintain a polished, professional presence at the front desk and lobby area, embodying Gurney's brand standards.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in front desk or hospitality roles preferred, especially in a luxury resort setting.
  • Proficiency in OPERA PMS or similar property management systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the front desk and lobby area for extended periods, including during busy check-in and check-out times.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items up to 20-30 pounds, such as guest luggage, packages, or office supplies.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting to access files, supplies, and equipment.
  • Manual dexterity to handle or operate office equipment, including telephones, computers, and printers.
  • Good vision to read screens, documents, and small print; good hearing to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively to convey information to guests, team members, and other departments.
