Job Summary
Maintains constant observation of patrons using KSU aquatic facilities to ensure safety. Responsible for enforcing rules, policies and procedures to maintain order and prevent accidents. Provides necessary emergency care and treatment until emergency medical services arrives.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures the safety of patrons using aquatic facilities
2. Provides care in emergency situations in water and/or on land when necessary
3. Inspect the facility, analyze issues, and report unsafe conditions or equipment to the leader
4. Monitors and reports water chemistry readings regularly and reports unsafe readings to the Facility Operations team
5. Maintains a clean and safe aquatic area by performing basic cleaning assignments
6. Enforces and educates patrons on all rules, policies, and procedures as outlined in the department and Aquatics Staff Manuals

Current and valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding,
CPR for the Professional Rescuer
First Aid Certifications or equivalent

Proposed Salary
Summer Rate of $16.00 per hour from May 11-Aug. 17.
After this date it is $12.50 per hour.

ABILITIES
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Proficiently demonstrate all water and land rescue skills
Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures
SKILLS
Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
