Operations Manager
Rohnert Park, CA, USA • Permanent contract • As soon as possible
Responsible for leading all manufacturing and operational functions including Production, Molding, Automation, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, Purchasing, and Warehouse operations. This role drives operational excellence through leadership, continuous improvement, employee development, cost management, quality performance, and execution of company strategic objectives. The Operations Manager serves as a key member of the leadership team and partners closely with executive management to support business growth, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees and develops operational systems, people, processes, and infrastructure to ensure seamless business execution. Works "in the trenches" to ensure team is focused, motivated, productive, and on-track.
  • Recruits, selects, trains, assigns, schedules, and mentors employees. Monitors performance and takes disciplinary measures where appropriate. Provides thorough performance evaluations.
  • Develops direct reports into stronger managers and business leaders capable of supporting the success and future growth of the organization.
  • Builds organizational capability through succession planning, talent development, coaching, and leadership development of managers and supervisors.
  • Anticipates and tracks operational and tactical risks; provides strategic solutions. Rationally assesses situations and provides clarity to team and other stakeholders.
  • Identifies and remedies competency gaps. Tracks issues and conflicts, removes barriers, and resolves issues of medium complexity decisively.
  • Contributes operational information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepares and completes action plans; implements production, productivity, quality, and service standards; resolves problems; participates in audits and audit readiness; identifies trends and recommends actions.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Drives improvements in safety, quality, delivery, inventory management, labor productivity, and cost performance.
  • Develops KPIs to monitor the success of each department. Takes remedial action where necessary to ensure continual improvement.
  • Works closely with management team to ensure all operational, administrative, and compliance functions within its reporting structure are being properly executed in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for achieving operational performance objectives including labor efficiency, scrap reduction, inventory accuracy, throughput, on-time delivery, and departmental budget targets.
  • Runs a safe, injury and accident-free workplace by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This position primarily operates in an office environment and requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties may include sitting, standing, walking, communicating, using a computer and standard office equipment, and occasionally moving materials weighing up to 15 pounds. Occasional visits to manufacturing, warehouse, or production areas may be required. Appropriate safety procedures and PPE must be followed when entering operational areas.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (7) years of progressive manufacturing operations leadership experience.
  • Fluency in Material Requirements Planning and Enterprise Resource Planning (MRP / ERP).
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems ideal; ISO 13485 strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple functional areas including production, quality, planning, supply chain, and warehouse operations.
  • Detailed knowledge of computers, inventory management systems, and data modeling.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement training or certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in plastics molding, automation, or medical device manufacturing, preferred.
  • Experience leading exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management.
