Greenfield is looking for an Operations Managers to join our growing team.

The Operations Manager will oversee and manage the daily operations of chemical handling and packaging processes within the facility, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining high-quality standards, and optimizing inventory management. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, a deep understanding of safety protocols, and a focus on continuous improvement. This role involves leading a team of up to 40 staff members across planning and scheduling, packaging, and shipping, fostering a culture of operational efficiency, process optimization, and innovation. The Operations Manager will provide leadership, set goals, conduct performance reviews, and support professional development, all while ensuring smooth production flow and meeting safety, quality, and performance targets.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the chemical handling and packaging teams to meet production targets and client demands.
  • Manage and lead a team of 30-40 staff to maintain operational standards.
  • Train and mentor employees on safety procedures, packaging methods, and handling protocols.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement among the team.
  • Provide team oversight to ensure all chemical handling and packaging operations comply internal safety standards.
  • Oversee the implementation and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Regularly conduct safety audits, inspections, and training to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that all chemicals are packaged according to quality control standards and customer specifications.
  • Investigate any product defects or production quality issues and lead corrective actions as necessary.
  • Manage production planning and scheduling team to ensure inventory of raw materials, packaging material, and finished goods are on track and prevent shortages. 
  • Manage the inventory of raw chemicals, packaging materials, and finished goods.
  • Continuously review and refine chemical handling and packaging processes to improve throughput and reduce waste.
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques and process optimization initiatives to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot process issues, and collaborate with teams to implement solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of production, chemical handling, packaging processes, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, including production volumes, on time shipments, and safety metrics.
  • Use data and KPIs to monitor and enhance the performance of the chemical handling, packaging processes, and on time shipments. 

Your Experience Should Include: 

Operations Management Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in operations management within the manufacturing, chemical, or industrial industries.
  • Proven expertise in overseeing chemical handling, packaging, or similar industrial processes.
  • Strong ability to optimize production lines, streamline process flows, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Extensive experience managing flammable or hazardous chemicals while ensuring strict safety compliance.

 

Chemical Industry Knowledge

  • Hands-on experience in working with chemicals, hazardous materials, or related industrial products.
  • Deep understanding of chemical safety, hazardous materials handling, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, DOT).
  • Familiarity with diverse chemical packaging methods, including bulk and containerized packaging solutions.

 

Leadership and Team Management

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams of 30-40 employees.
  • Experience in training and mentoring teams on safety, quality, and operational best practices.
  • A track record of motivating teams to meet production targets while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
  • Must possess strong cross-departmental communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with leaders at all levels.

Process Improvement and Optimization

  • Experience in analyzing processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing improvements to optimize performance.
  • Background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with upgrading and integrating equipment to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.

 

Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing chemical handling, packaging, and distribution (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, FDA).
  • Experience conducting safety audits and ensuring compliance with safety and quality control standards.

 

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Proficiency in preparing and presenting operational performance reports, including KPIs and safety metrics.
  • Ability to use data-driven insights to enhance decision-making and optimize production performance.

 

Technical Proficiency

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and packaging equipment used in chemical handling and packaging.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., D365) and inventory management software.

 

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in training, reporting, and cross-team coordination.
  • Strong initiative to learn, challenge existing states when appropriate, initiate process improvements, and communicate across departments and functions facilitating resolution of product quality or process efficiency issues
  • Ability to influence decision makers with clear presentations of data and recommended solutions

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
