Your Role in Junior Achievement of South Florida:

The Technical Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the dependable, daytoday performance of all technology and audio/visual systems across JA World. This role oversees thirdparty IT, AV, telephony, and printing vendors; provides handson support to staff with daily technology needs, including studentfacing tools; manages equipment inventory and lifecycle planning; and maintains consistent operational readiness for programs and events.

In close partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, the position contributes to technology initiatives, operational planning, and continuous process improvements that enhance organizational efficiency, elevate the user experience, and strengthen overall service delivery.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Audio/Visual
    • Manage the audio and visual requirements across JA World, including both permanent AV systems and temporary event-related setups as needed.
    • Maintain AV systems to ensure they are current, properly documented, and proactively serviced.
    • Prepare and operate audiovisual systems for smaller internal events, while coordinating with external AV vendors for larger-scale functions when necessary.
    • Oversee the digital signage platform, including content uploads, scheduling management, and overall system functionality.
    • Provide coordination and AV support for facility rentals, special initiatives, and partner-hosted events as required.
  • IT Services
    • Manage external IT Service Provider to ensure all IT systems and services are fully functional.
    • Act as the main point of contact for IT escalations and collaborate with the external IT service provider to resolve issues efficiently.
    • Partner with the IT Service Provider in managing seasonal and project-based initiatives, including the procurement of new equipment.
    • Maintain oversight of device lifecycle management, including planning for equipment upgrades and replacements.
    • Provide support to end users with basic workstation technology, inclusive of computers, monitor, surge protection, and related equipment.
    • Manage employee soft phone system in coordination with external telecommunications service providers.
    • Maintain user access controls and oversee account setup and deactivation processes for employee onboarding and offboarding.
    • Manage and monitor the end-user cybersecurity training program.
  • General
    • Diagnose and resolve technology issues within student experiential learning environments and related applications.
    • Ensure all technology and operational Standard Operating Procedures are current, consistently followed, and properly documented.
    • Maintain an accurate and uptodate inventory of computers, tablets, networking hardware, AV systems, and associated peripherals.
    • Support the research, evaluation, and approval of technology purchases to ensure cost effectiveness, accuracy, and competitive pricing.
    • Monitor third-party vendor contracts, ensuring service quality, performance standards, and timely renewals.
    • Document technology processes and proactively identify opportunities to improve operational workflows.
    • Manage and maintain the relationship with the external printing service provider.
    • Support backoffice and organizationwide training initiatives by reinforcing consistent technology and operations standards across departments.
    • Assist with budgeting and financial management for IT and AV services, equipment, and projects.
    • Manage the technical aspects of employee onboarding and offboarding and provide ongoing support to staff in the effective use of IT and AV equipment.

Additionally, you will collaborate with the COO on special planning initiatives and departmental projects, stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, and support additional related duties as needed.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • This role does not directly supervise internal staff but is responsible for providing functional oversight of external IT, AV, phone, and printing service providers, ensuring vendors consistently meet established service expectations and performance standards.

The background and capabilities that will help you thrive in this role include:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Systems Administration, AV Technology or related field preferred, but not required. Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education
  • 3+ years of handson experience in audio/visual operations, ideally within corporate or eventdriven environments. This experience should include AV system installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance (such as projectors, speakers, microphones, and digital signage), as well as IT hardware and workstation support involving computers, monitors, peripherals, and basic networking equipment.
  • Proven project management experience overseeing technology and AV initiatives from planning through execution, including coordinating timelines, managing vendors and budgets, and facilitating clear crossdepartmental communication to ensure successful delivery.
  • Prior experience working with managed service providers (MSPs) is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Technical troubleshooting skills with audio/visual equipment and systems.
  • Ability to guide and support staff with varying levels of technical knowledge and confidence.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and clear documentation practices.
  • Able to effectively manage priorities and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment.
  • A proactive and hands-on problem solver who can identify practical and resourceful solutions.
  • Capable of working both independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Skilled at explaining technical concepts in a clear and approachable way for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once in a fastpaced, cross-functional environment, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet deadlines and deliver highquality results.
  • Naturally adaptable and responsive, with the flexibility to pivot priorities quickly in alignment with evolving organizational needs.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to the job scope (proper wiring management, electrical load, etc.).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, with the ability to use these tools effectively in a professional work environment.
