What is a KMM developer?

KMM developers are software engineers who specialize in Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM), a framework by JetBrains that enables code sharing between Android and iOS applications. KMM allows developers to write common business logic once in Kotlin and use it across both platforms, reducing duplication and improving efficiency. KMM developers typically have experience with Kotlin, Android development, and an understanding of iOS development, enabling them to build cross-platform mobile applications more effectively.

What are some common challenges faced by Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) developers when integrating shared code with existing iOS and Android projects?

KMM developers often encounter challenges when integrating shared Kotlin code into existing native iOS and Android codebases. These challenges can include managing platform-specific dependencies, ensuring smooth interoperability between Kotlin and Swift/Objective-C, and handling differences in lifecycle or UI frameworks. Effective communication with native iOS and Android teams is essential to address these issues and maintain code consistency. Familiarity with build tools like Gradle and Xcode, as well as experience with dependency management, will help streamline the integration process.

These competencies ensure effective knowledge capture, dissemination, and utilization, supporting organizational innovation and efficiency.

What is the difference between Kmm vs Mechanical Engineer?

AspectKmmMechanical Engineer
Required CredentialsTypically requires specialized certifications or training in Kmm-specific tools or processesBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, professional engineering license often preferred
Work EnvironmentPrimarily in manufacturing, production, or technical settings focused on Kmm systemsDesign, analysis, and testing in offices, labs, or manufacturing plants
Industry UsageUsed mainly in industries utilizing Kmm technology or processesWidely used across various industries including automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing
Common Search/ComparisonOften compared for technical skills and certificationsCompared for design and engineering responsibilities

While Kmm specialists focus on specific Kmm systems and certifications, Mechanical Engineers have a broader scope involving design, analysis, and development across multiple engineering disciplines. Both roles are essential in manufacturing and technical industries, but they differ in focus and required credentials.

Job description

KMM Group manufactures high-precision components and assemblies that support life-saving medical devices, aerospace systems, defense programs, space exploration, and advanced technology.
We are looking for an Assembly Technician who enjoys hands-on, detailed work and takes pride in building parts where quality matters. This role is ideal for someone with experience in precision assembly, medical device assembly, aerospace assembly, mechanical assembly, cleanroom work, inspection documentation, and controlled manufacturing environments.
Assembly is not just putting parts together. We're looking for someone who enjoys reading the print, following the process, protecting the part, checking the details, and knowing that your work may support something flying, healing, launching, or saving a life.
We offer the option of working 4 ten hour shifts, Monday - Thursday. Enjoy a long weekend!
What You'll Do
  • Assemble intricate medical device components, aerospace sub-assemblies, and precision manufactured parts according to blueprints, work instructions, SOPs, job travelers, and customer specifications.
  • Follow detailed assembly procedures to meet form, fit, function, tolerance, cleanliness, and quality requirements.
  • Use hand tools, torque wrenches, microscopes, custom fixtures, press-fit equipment, adhesive dispensers, and precision measuring tools.
  • Perform visual inspection, in-process inspection, and basic functional testing to identify defects before final quality review.
  • Document production activity, inspection results, time, quantity, and job status in travelers, production records, and ERP/scheduling systems.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to troubleshoot assembly issues and improve processes.
  • Support new assembly procedure development, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow Lean Manufacturing, 5S, contamination control, and cleanroom or controlled-environment practices when required.
  • Help maintain compliance with internal quality requirements, customer specifications, ISO 13485:2016, AS9100, and ITAR-related manufacturing expectations.

• What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, work instructions, schematics, and inspection requirements.
  • Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and comfort working with small or delicate components.
  • Experience using hand tools, torque tools, microscopes, fixtures, adhesive dispensing equipment, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
  • A quality-first mindset and the patience to do precise work the right way.
Bonus Points if You Have:
  • 3-5 years of experience in precision assembly
  • Medical device assembly, aerospace assembly, mechanical assembly, electromechanical assembly, or similar detailed manufacturing
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, AS9100, cleanroom procedures, contamination control, GD&T, inspection documentation, or ERP systems
  • Lean manufacturing or 5S experience
  • Experience supporting precision manufacturing, CNC machining, grinding, EDM, inspection, or production operations
Physical Requirements
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual must be able to:
  • Frequently sit and/or stand for extended periods during a shift.
  • Regularly use hands and fingers for fine manipulation, precision assembly, and operation of hand tools and assembly equipment.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials, components, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Maintain visual acuity sufficient to inspect small features, identify defects, read engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and quality documentation. This may include working with microscopes, magnification devices, or other visual inspection equipment.
  • Ability to distinguish fine detail, color variations, and surface imperfections.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, cleanroom garments, hair coverings, and other protective equipment as required.
  • Work in controlled environments, including Class 8 cleanrooms, while complying with contamination control and cleanliness requirements.
  • Maintain regular attendance and work overtime as needed to support production schedules and customer requirements.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
ITAR Requirement
KMM is an ITAR-registered facility. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or have a valid Green Card.
A Restrictive Covenant Agreement (NDA) must be executed for this position.
Confidentiality of all KMM Group business matters is a professional responsibility within the scope of this role. Confidential information includes, but is not limited to, customers, vendors, policies, operational methods, technical processes, know-how, trade secrets, pricing, delivery reports, open order reports, financial reports, financial data, and other business affairs of KMM Group.

  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Professional development and education programs
  • Dedicated Manager of Training

Why KMM?
KMM is not a high-volume assembly line where your work disappears into the noise. We manufacture complex parts and assemblies for customers working in medical device, aerospace, defense, space, and other high-performance industries.
That means the work is technical. The details matter. The people around you understand that precision takes focus, judgment, and care.
Our culture is built around fundamentals like Paid to Think. For an Assembly Technician, that means you are expected to use your eyes, your hands, and your brain. You will be supported by leaders, trainers, engineers, quality professionals, and teammates who know that good manufacturing happens when people are trusted to think.
If you want work that feels meaningful, hands-on, and technically interesting, KMM offers a place to build your skills and contribute to parts that matter.
