Job description

Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facilities and grounds at Kids In Distress. This role ensures a safe, clean, and fully operational environment for staff, children, and visitors by performing routine maintenance, addressing repair needs, and supporting preventative maintenance efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and systems
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC systems and components
  • Complete light electrical work including fixtures, outlets, and minor wiring repairs
  • Perform plumbing repairs such as fixing leaks, clearing clogs, and replacing fixtures
  • Maintain grounds through weed trimming and leaf removal
  • Conduct pressure washing of buildings, sidewalks, and outdoor areas
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks and maintain service schedules
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and accurate maintenance records
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and procedures

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance or facilities experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical labor
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Work Environment: This position involves both indoor and outdoor work and may require exposure to heat, humidity, noise, and mechanical equipment.
