Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Kid Zone Program Specialist is responsible for the children in the Kid Zone to ensure a safe, fun area for children 2 months through 10 years old and their families to interact and enjoy. This position is primarily scheduled Monday-Friday from 8:15 AM-11:15 AM. Staff are also required to work at least one Saturday shift per month. Kid Zone hours are Monday-Thursday, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM, and Saturdays, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, with opportunities for additional hours as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Supervises play and group activities of Kid Zone participants
  • Maintains discipline and order
  • Maintains supervision of participants
  • Handles parent/member concerns
  • Registers each Kid Zone participant
  • Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion
  • Insures equipment is clean and safe
  • Enforces safety standards for the operation of the Kid Zone
  • Implements Character Development: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility

Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association
COMPENSATION
$14.35 - $17.93 ; Part Time, Non-Exempt (up to 25 hours/week)

Requirements
KNOW HOW
Must be 18 years of age or older. Six months to one year childcare or customer service experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Ability and desire to work with children of all ages.
CERTIFICATIONS
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification required within the first 60 days
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
  • AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
