Job description

Kenda American Technology Center

Kenda American Technology Center (KATC) is responsible for advancing Kenda’s global design capabilities and developing new automotive, power sport, and bicycle tires for the North American marketplace. Established in 2014, KATC is located in Akron, Ohio across I-77 from the Canton-Akron Airport. KATC currently has a staff approximately 50 (mostly engineers and technicians). Further growth is expected as Kenda expands its North American customer base. Departments include Tire Development, Tire Research, Tire Testing, and Tire Materials. Facilities include a Tire Testing Laboratory, Rubber Mixing Laboratory, and Material Analysis Laboratory in addition to the R&D office space.

Position Overview
The Kenda American Technology Center (KATC) is looking for a self-starting, organized, detail-minded individual for a Technician position to be primarily responsible for R&D testing and other related support duties. KATC operates multiple design teams responsible for automotive, power sports, industrial and bicycle tires. The testing department supports field testing for all these departments and technical support is required. This includes attending testing trips (in state single day, out of state multiple day, international), completing tire changes at the test site, assisting in maintenance of test equipment and managing test programs. Candidates for the job should expect to travel anywhere between 5-15 times per year.

Responsibilities

  • Traveling to testing trips to support testing for automotive, power sports, industrial and bicycle tires. 5-15 trips per year anywhere from single day to full week or more.
  • Communicating with engineers and technicians as needed to perform job duties.
  • Assist other technicians as needed with tire mounting and balancing, tire/wheel installation on test vehicles, and other test-related tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
