Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant coordinates both direct and indirect patient care job functions in the clinic. It is important that you have a strong work history of independently working in the front and back office successfully. Responsibilities include both front and back-office duties.

Front Office:

  • Receptionist, answer phones and patient registration
  • Experience understanding the importance in attention to billing details highly desired as it relates to billing procedures, and charge posting
  • Maintaining appointment and clinic schedules
  • Scheduling surgeries/procedures
  • Obtaining appropriate insurance verification, authorizations, and referrals
  • Providing appropriate patient instructions per provider orders.
  • Warm calls to patients, confirming patient appointment
  • Electronically enter blood & specimen orders through lab interface using EHR (Kareo)
  • Maintaining faxes and lab orders
  • Collect copays

Back Office:

  • Room patients
  • Prepare treatment room and sanitize after each patient visit.
  • Obtain and chart vitals
  • Assist providers with procedures as needed
  • Perform spirometry, pulse oximetry and other medical services appropriate to medical assistant duties
  • Administer office medications
  • Triage
  • Stock & maintain sanitized exam rooms
  • Communicate test results to providers


Requirements:

Completion of an MA training program and certification (Required)

Bilingual, English/Spanish (Required)

Basic Life Support (BLS Required)

Fingerprint Clearance Card - Must have a current fingerprint clearance card or have the ability to obtain within 1-2 weeks of being offered the position

EMR systems: 3 years (Preferred)

Vital signs: 3 years (Preferred)

Front/Back Office: 3 years (Preferred)
