The Director of Student Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for student support systems and services across the organization, including attendance and engagement initiatives, home visit programming, school counseling services, school social work services, and school nursing services. This role directly supervises multiple coordinators and leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs, processes, and procedures that support student well being, engagement, access, and success in a virtual learning environment.

The Director works in close alignment with the Academic Leadership Team and Chief Academic Officer to ensure student support systems are integrated with instructional priorities, organizational goals, and school improvement initiatives. This role collaborates across departments to ensure coordinated, student centered services that address academic, social, emotional, behavioral, attendance, and health related needs while maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.

This is a full-time position requiring the ability to work independently for approximately 40 hours per week. A professional, distraction-free home office during the workday is required. Core hours are between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, while allowing for some flexibility as determined by school needs. 
Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000/year

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for student services programs
  • Evaluate the overall effectiveness, alignment, and compliance of student services programs, operations, and staff.
  • Develop, implement, and disseminate best practices for student support services within a virtual K12 charter school environment.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs, procedures, workflows, and operational systems that support student engagement, attendance, wellness, and access to services.
  • Supervise and support coordinators, department leads, and specialists while promoting collaboration, accountability, and leadership development.
  • Oversee attendance intervention systems, truancy prevention efforts, family outreach initiatives, and home visit processes to improve student engagement and participation.
  • Analyze attendance, engagement, behavioral, wellness, and intervention related data to identify trends, inform decision making, and guide continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and facilitate professional learning opportunities for staff related to attendance, student wellness, engagement, trauma informed practices, student support systems, and compliance requirements.
  • Support the implementation and effective utilization of systems and technology platforms that enhance student support services.
  • Assist in the development, management, and monitoring of the Student Services department budget and review department related expenditures.
  • Lead or support the preparation and timely submission of required reports for federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Participate in strategic planning and operational goal development to ensure student services initiatives align with organizational priorities and student achievement goals.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, supervision, and performance evaluation processes for department staff.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for escalated student services concerns and collaborate with school leadership, compliance staff, and legal counsel as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal requirements, compliance expectations, and best practices related to student services, attendance, school counseling, social work, student wellness, and virtual education.
  • Promote equitable, student centered, and relationship driven practices across all student services programs and initiatives.
  • Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises and supports student services personnel, including but not limited to coordinators, administrative support staff and additional personnel as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participating in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, supervision, coaching, and evaluation of staff; assigning and monitoring work responsibilities; supporting professional growth and accountability; addressing concerns and conflict resolution; and fostering effective collaboration and high quality service delivery across student services teams.
Minimum Required Qualifications


  • Master's Degree in Education Administration or a related field AND
  • Five (5) Years of relevant work experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • All PDE required clearances for school-based personnel 

Minimum Required Skill Set

  • High level knowledge of state attendance laws, McKinney-Vento requirements, school counseling, school social work, school nursing, and special education regulations within a K12 educational environment.
  • Great organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptable technology skills
  • Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects
  • Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database
  • Demonstrated competencies with general technology, Microsoft Office Platforms (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, etc.), Google Platforms, Zoom, etc.

  • This is a home-based position. When office days are required, the noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
  • This position will include limited travel and will include limited overnight travel. This is estimated to be less than 20% of the time. Travel will be required for community events, professional development, conferences, and state testing.
