Quality Matters (QM) is an international organization that is recognized as a leader in quality assurance for online education. QM is a nonprofit organization comprised of a dedicated staff that works together virtually-from cities all over the United States-to support everyone's quality assurance goals.
Responsibilities
In this role, the K-12 Quality Assurance Manager will:
  • Manage the K-12 Course Review activities of the QM Quality Assurance department with responsibility for QA goals, assuring the integrity of the course review process.
  • Support the Quality Mattersโ„ข (QM) organization toward achieving QM's philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives.
  • Support the requirements of the Quality Assurance Department through the implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of Quality Mattersโ„ข, primarily by supporting quality assurance services and related K-12 initiatives of Quality Matters.

Essential Duties
In fulfillment of the responsibilities, the K-12 Quality Assurance Manager will:
Manage Quality Matters course reviews for the K-12 Program.
  • Ensure the Course Worksheet and Course Alignment Map are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure state or content standards submitted with a course review are correct and included in the Course Worksheet and Course Alignment Map.
  • Review Course Worksheets to determine if Course-Level and Module-Level Objectives are measurable at 85% or more.
  • Determine appropriate subject matter expertise needed for each course review and analyze the pool of available reviewers to determine the best fit for the review team.
  • Contact Peer Reviewers and assign them to course reviews.
  • Provide the review team with review information and open reviews.
  • Answer course review policy and procedure questions as needed.
  • Guide stakeholders on how to apply Specific Review Standards and Annotations.
  • Provide guidance and follow-up with Lead Reviewers and Peer Reviewers to ensure timely and accurate course reviews.

Support QM K-12 Initiatives
  • Meet regularly with the QA K-12 department to provide guidance related to K-12 projects and strategic directions
  • Collaborate with QM K-12 partnership organizations on projects as needed
  • Attend QM K-12 departmental meetings, virtual conferences, K-12 Advisory Council, and K-12 QMC meetings
  • Support K-12 strategic initiatives related to course reviews and other potential quality assurance products

Communicate with current and prospective participants/institutions/organizations about course reviews.
  • Provide an overview of the different reviews an institution/organization/participant may consider with Quality Matters.
  • Answer course review-related questions from current and prospective participants/institutions, organizations, and service providers to fit their needs.
  • Evaluate the needs of prospective organizations and make recommendations on the best review approaches for their needs.

Serve as a subject matter expert for K-12 curriculum-related questions.
  • Answer questions related to the alignment of K-12 curriculum.
  • Provide guidance on the demonstration of alignment within K-12 courses as required in the K-12 Rubric.

Serve as the subject matter expert for K-12 state standards questions.
  • Maintain a manual of specific state online course eligibility rules, regulations, and content standards.
  • Reach out to state department of education to clarify rules, regulations, and content standards.
  • Answer questions related to the use of state standards.

Review K-12 Quality Assurance related professional development
  • Provide guidance on K-12 QA-related professional development.
  • Determine alignment of K-12 QA-related professional development to QA policies and processes.

Manage Internal and External Relationships
  • Coordinate with all relevant quality assurance stakeholders as necessary to ensure Quality Matters standards, policies and practices are consistently applied.
  • Communicate information (via phone, email, website, etc.) regarding quality assurance products, services, and processes, as needed.
  • Represent QM Quality Assurance in all communications, including meetings, webinars, phone calls, and conferences.

Collaborate as a member of the Quality Matters Team.
  • Participate in weekly staff and team meetings.
  • Work with staff and subscribers in small workgroups as needed.
  • Work with QM staff to meet strategic goals and objectives.

Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Self-starter, capable of being productive in a fast-moving virtual office environment with the following qualifications and desired skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years related work experience in K-12 online education
  • K-12 curriculum development knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of the Quality Matters K-12 Rubric Specific Review Standards and Annotations, and the National Standards for Quality Online Learning
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of state content standards.
  • Ability to multitask with high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines consistently
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving, virtual work environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in quality assurance for online learning
  • Experience in the application of the QM Rubric to online course design
  • Experience as a QM Course Reviewer
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Experience utilizing generative AI tools responsibly to enhance productivity, with an understanding of AI data privacy and output verification.

Technology Proficiencies
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Video conferencing software, Zoom
  • Google applications
  • Ability to learn proprietary database systems as well as other software packages, as needed, i.e. Alfresco.

Additional Information
QM operates a virtual office, and this will be a remote, home-based position. Applicants must reside permanently in one of the following states to be considered for this position: CT, FL, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, NC, NH, NM, NV, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, or WA. Candidates outside of these states need not apply. You should also have access to reliable high-speed internet.
This full-time remote position is At-Will, with a salary of $66,636 annually, based off of a 40-hour work week, minimum, paid in biweekly increments. This position is eligible to participate in QM's competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, 401(k), 12 paid holidays, paid vacation and paid sick leave.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a telecommuting and/or home office environment. The work in this role is conducted primarily through the use of computers or computer-based and internet technology as well as other office productivity machinery such as a computer printer. As such, the job is largely sedentary and requires continual and sustained operation of a computer. The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, colleagues and staff in both synchronous and asynchronous modalities. Must be able to exchange accurate information. This role requires occasional travel to conferences and meetings (about 5% ; 2 trips per year).
Regardless of physical location, all QM employees are required to be available to attend the synchronous core schedule of Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, EST and participate in weekly staff meetings.
