Job description

UX Designer, AVP - Charles River Development

What we are looking for:

Charles River Development seeks an exceptional UX Designer to help design the next generation of experiences for our investment management platform. This role is ideal for a designer who can turn complex requirements into clear, usable workflows for enterprise users.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working on data-rich B2B products and can think beyond individual screens to the broader end-to-end user experience. They should bring strength in product design, interaction design, workflow design, and modern UI patterns.

Experience in financial services, enterprise software, or other complex domain-driven products is strongly preferred.

Why this role is important to us:

As a UX Designer at CRD, you will work with lead designers and cross-functional product teams to design products used by traders, portfolio managers, compliance professionals, and platform operations teams.

Many of our products support complex workflows with dense data, powerful configuration, and multi-step tasks. You will help make those experiences clearer, more efficient, and more consistent across the platform.

You will contribute directly to product delivery while also helping strengthen common patterns across CRD applications through thoughtful use of shared UX standards and the Alpha Design System.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Plan and execute design work across different product areas in partnership with lead UX designers, product managers, and engineers
  • Participate in the full UX lifecycle, including research, workflow analysis, concepts, interaction design, prototyping, implementation support, QA, and usability testing
  • Create low- and high-fidelity prototypes, UX flows, wireframes, and interaction specifications that clearly communicate design intent
  • Leverage the Alpha Design System and established UX patterns when creating new experiences, and contribute improvements when gaps are identified
  • Design for data-intensive enterprise workflows involving dashboards, tables, drill-down patterns, configuration screens, and other advanced interactions
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews and incorporate feedback from product, engineering, and UX peers
  • Work closely with engineers to communicate functional requirements and refine designs as needed to address technical or practical constraints
  • Help maintain consistency across products by applying shared patterns, standards, and reusable interaction approaches
  • Be an active contributor to the UX team by sharing work, giving constructive feedback, and helping improve team practices
  • Mentoring more junior UX designers, helping them grow skills in solution design, prototyping, communication and stakeholder management.

Education and preferred qualifications:

5+ years of experience in UX, product design, or interaction design, ideally in enterprise or B2B software

Experience designing products for the financial industry or another complex, domain-heavy environment is preferred

Experience with data-intensive applications, dashboards, and data visualization

Strong interaction design and problem-solving skills for complex user workflows

Experience providing UX design within fast-paced, cross-functional product teams using iterative delivery practices

Experience with working across the software development lifecycle, from concept through implementation and release

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Expertise with Figma for design, prototyping, creating and using design systems.

Familiarity with design tools and workflows using generative AI, including for idea generation, prototyping, and engineering.

Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining design quality and attention to detail

A portfolio that demonstrates:

  • A strong user-centered design sensibility
  • A clear understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices
  • A thoughtful approach to designing complex workflows and task flows
  • The ability to communicate detailed interaction design and functional behavior
  • High-quality prototypes and specifications suitable for engineering implementation

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $140,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
