Junior Unity 3D Developer information

What is a junior Unity 3D developer?

Junior Unity 3D Developers are entry-level professionals who use the Unity 3D engine to create, design, and implement interactive games or applications. They typically work under the guidance of senior developers and are responsible for coding gameplay features, fixing bugs, and assisting in the overall development process. These developers often have a basic understanding of C# programming and the Unity environment, and they are eager to learn and grow their skills in game development or interactive media.

What types of projects and tasks can a junior Unity 3D developer expect to work on in their first year?

As a Junior Unity 3D Developer, you’ll typically start by assisting with the development of gameplay features, bug fixing, and implementing simple UI elements. You may also be tasked with creating or modifying prefabs, working on basic scripting tasks, and supporting senior developers during the testing and optimization phases. Collaboration is key, as you’ll work closely with artists, designers, and QA testers to bring game elements to life and ensure everything functions smoothly. Over time, you’ll gain exposure to more complex systems and have opportunities to take on increased responsibility as you build your skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a junior Unity 3D developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Junior Unity 3D Developer, you need a solid understanding of C# programming, 3D game development principles, and familiarity with the Unity engine, often supported by a relevant degree or portfolio of projects. Experience with version control systems like Git and basic knowledge of graphics tools such as Blender or Photoshop are commonly required. Creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help you collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams. These skills ensure efficient game development, high-quality user experiences, and smooth teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Our teams combine creativity, technical excellence, and a collaborative, hands-on approach to solve complex problems and deliver results our clients and communities can count on. We take pride in our work and our ability to provide opportunities for our teams, support each other's growth, and look ahead to what's next. • Prepare technical drawings, reports, and permit submittals.
  • Coordinate with clients, agency reviewers, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor and review the work of EITs and junior engineers.
  • Conduct occasional site visits and attend client meetings as needed.
Who You Are
  • A licensed PE in Washington or Oregon (or able to obtain reciprocity quickly).
  • A civil engineer with 5-10 years of experience in land development.
  • Proficient with Civil 3D or similar design tools.
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple active projects.
  • An effective communicator-both written and verbal.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality work on time and on budget.
  • You have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and running smoothly.
Nice To Have
  • MicroStation/InRoads experience.
  • Familiarity with local agency design standards.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff.
  • Prior experience working on commercial, industrial, or mixed-use developments.
  • Interest in business development or future project management.
