Job Summary:
The One23 Group is a technical services firm specializing in simulation models and analytical tools for government and industry clients. They are seeking a highly motivated Junior Operations Research Analyst to apply data analytics and modeling techniques to support the Department of Homeland Security. The role involves analyzing operational datasets, developing simulation models, and providing decision support to stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze operational datasets to understand system behavior, including arrival patterns, processing times, and throughput
• Develop analytical inputs and assumptions to support simulation models
• Support the development and application of discrete event simulation models
• Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate impacts of changes in staffing, infrastructure, or processes
• Validate model outputs against real-world data and refine assumptions as needed
• Translate operational processes into structured analytical frameworks
• Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Support development of synthetic environments through integration of data, models, and visualization tools
Qualifications:
Required:
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar analytical programming languages
• Strong foundation in statistics, data analysis, and quantitative problem solving
• Experience working with structured datasets using tools such as Excel, SQL, or similar platforms
• Experience working with time-based or event-based datasets
• Experience or familiarity with simulation modeling (discrete event, Monte Carlo, or agent-based)
• Exposure to operations research techniques (e.g., queueing theory, system modeling, optimization)
• Experience analyzing transportation, logistics, or service systems
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Experience supporting federal clients or working in DHS environments
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
• Active DHS Public Trust BI or higher-level clearance within DHS
• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• U.S. citizenship is required
