Job description

STARK is seeking to hire a Systems Administrator to join our IT team in New York City. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting the company's server infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments while ensuring systems remain secure, reliable, and high-performing.
Job Responsibilities:
Server & Cloud Infrastructure
  • Manage and maintain Azure-hosted servers, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and decommissioning.
  • Administer Linux-based servers, including patching, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IIS web servers, application pools, bindings, and hosted applications.
  • Plan and execute server capacity planning, infrastructure scaling, and server lifecycle management in collaboration with the IT Director.
  • Networking & Domain Services
  • Manage internal and external DNS records, zones, and related changes.
  • Procure, install, renew, and troubleshoot SSL/TLS certificates across servers and applications.
  • Support Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and other domain-related infrastructure services.
  • Security & Compliance
  • Apply operating system security hardening and infrastructure best practices across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Manage server patching and update cycles to maintain system reliability and security.
  • Monitor infrastructure for vulnerabilities and respond to security alerts affecting server environments.
  • Support security audits and remediation efforts alongside the IT Director and external partners.

Operations & Support
  • Maintain accurate documentation of server configurations, architecture, operational procedures, and infrastructure runbooks.
  • Participate in an on-call and escalation rotation for critical infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team across New York City and Calhoun, GA on cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Track work and project progress through Jira according to team standards.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on systems administration experience supporting production server environments.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking, and storage.
  • Strong Linux administration experience (RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar).
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft IIS.
  • Practical experience managing DNS services and SSL/TLS certificate lifecycles.
  • Strong understanding of operating system patching, security hardening, and infrastructure maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 technologies, including Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and Microsoft Defender.
  • Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, RHCSA/LFCS, or CompTIA Security+.
  • Experience working within a multi-site organization supporting distributed infrastructure environments.
