Job description

The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for performing configurations of Information Technology systems and services, while supporting multiple areas within Apple Bank’s Information Technology organization, ensuring that the appropriate systems, methodologies, procedures and security are in place. This role focuses on aspects of vulnerability remediation, software lifecycle management and system hardening.
Hybrid/Scarsdale, NY
Salary Range: $80,000- $95,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review vulnerability reports provided by Information Security and take the necessary actions for remediation, such as software and operating system patching, updates, configuration and removal.
  • Review software lifecycle reports provided by Asset Management and work with business units to plan and execute the necessary actions to maintain supported software, such as system upgrades, software patching and removal.
  • Perform scripting to automate tasks of deploying or removing software on required systems, utilizing our system management appliance.
  • Deploy operating system configurations based on Information Technology and Information Security strategy and procedures, utilizing Group Policy Management and scripting.
  • Provide compliance reports and evidence to Information Security and Audit departments as requested.
  • Attend meetings with the Change Advisory Board and communicate planned changes to the environment, while sending written communications, as necessary.
  • Provide support to Service & Delivery team as needed for escalations involving environmental issues and managed operating system deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with vendors to obtain support, best practice standards and resources on 3rd party software.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to Service & Delivery team, to improve workstation deployment images.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and incident escalation as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

SKILLS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 2+ years relevant work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows server and workstation-based operating systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, including Users & Computers and Group Policy Management.
  • Functional knowledge of system management using Quest Kace (SMA and SDA) or Microsoft Configuration Manager (including ECM and SCCM).
  • Functional knowledge of Windows scripting languages, such as PowerShell and Windows command line.
  • Functional knowledge of system and software deployment and packaging. 
  • Functional knowledge of system monitoring and error remediation.
  • Functional knowledge of patch and vulnerability management.
  • Ability to understand technical reports on Windows Registry and Group Policy configurations.
  • Must be flexible to support business functions with required timing.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and time efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively both within the team and cross functionally.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and comfort with public speaking.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
