deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Jr. System Engineer in Colorado Spring, CO.

Position Description:

deciBel Research is seeking a junior level System Engineer to develop threat model requirements and perform verification and validation (V&V) on threat representations across kinematic, radio frequency (RF), and infrared (IR) domains for the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA's) Threat Modeling Center (TMC) at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Gain experience with threat model phenomenology with focus on components of missile systems trajectories and signatures.
  • Research into RCS and IR signature model development requirements.
  • Understand stakeholders' requirements and ensure quality production of deliverables.
  • Actively work with the team to ensure automation and tools improvements are coordinated โ€“ aiming to attain utmost efficiency and meet Leadership objectives.
  • Work on defined schedule to timely support MDA Ground Test Modeling and Simulation events.
  • Work in close coordination with Missile Modeling Engineers and Production Engineers to ensure model requirements are met and Verification and Validation (V&V) confirms models' accuracy and reliability.

Target salary range: $75,000 - $130,000. This target salary represents an estimated range for this position based on experience, degree and other factors.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM related field

Experience Requirements:

  • 2+ years with Bachelor's degree; 0+ years with Master's degree
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), ideally with CAMEO or similar tool experience
  • Familiarity with the systems engineering process, including the Systems Engineering "V"
  • Experience with requirements traceability
  • Modeling, simulation, and automation experience
  • Familiarity with flight characteristics, motion, and performance of missile systems
  • Familiarity in the domain of RCS and IR signature modeling practices
  • Familiarity with hard body heating of objects and their corresponding signatures representation
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work in a dynamic team environment
  • Must have a current, active, in-scope DoD Secret Clearance at the time of application, which is required to start; with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with access to SCI

Special Skills Desired:

  • Strong CAMEO or similar tool experience
  • Strong systems engineering background
  • Strong background with missile system models, atmospheric dynamics, and performance
  • Mastery of engineering modeling principles behind body motion, trajectory analysis, counter measures, debris, and signature modeling
  • Familiarity with Optical Signatures Code (OSC)
  • Strong knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and performance of missiles
  • Practical experience with MBSE theory and tools
  • Experience in Agile software development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
  • A current, active, in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with access to SCI (TS/SCI)
