Job Summary:
oThis role is a combination of technical product ownership, Epic application leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic planning.
On any given day, the Systems Administrator V may be:
Meeting with operational and clinical leaders to understand business needs and translate them into Epic capabilities and technology solutions.
Prioritizing application enhancements and maintaining product roadmaps for assigned Epic applications.
Working with analysts, architects, vendors, and technical teams to design and implement solutions.
Leading discussions with executive stakeholders regarding competing priorities, resource constraints, and strategic direction.
Supporting major organizational initiatives, upgrades, optimization efforts, and third-party application integrations.
Evaluating current workflows and recommending improvements based on Epic best practices and industry standards.
Presenting recommendations to executive and operational leadership teams.
Providing mentorship and guidance to team members while helping establish governance and technical standards.
Success in this role requires someone who can balance technical expertise with strong business acumen. The ideal candidate must be comfortable moving between detailed application discussions and executive-level strategic conversations.
oServe as the product owner and strategic leader for assigned Epic applications and related technologies.
oDevelop and maintain product roadmaps aligned with organizational priorities and clinical/business objectives.
oPartner with operational, clinical, and executive stakeholders to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.
oLead Epic application strategy, governance, prioritization, and solution design activities.
oManage relationships with Epic, third-party vendors, and internal technology teams.
oEnsure adherence to technical standards, application best practices, and organizational architecture principles.
oDrive implementation and optimization initiatives across Epic and integrated applications.
oFacilitate executive-level discussions and provide recommendations on technology investments and strategic direction.
oCollaborate with project teams to support enterprise initiatives and organizational transformation efforts.
oMonitor application performance, user satisfaction, operational metrics, and adoption to continuously improve outcomes.

  • Meets timelines and provides cross-functional resources to drive the delivery of appropriate, sustainable, and prompt solutions.
  • Plans and performs complex system configuration.
  • Manages the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems and systems in one or more additional IT domains (e.g., systems, applications, network, databases, storage, security) by performing complex systems analysis to identify problems, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Plans the maintenance, modification, and documentation of applications.
  • Monitors the service of first and second level support for enterprise systems and systems in one or more additional IT domains by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents to minimize system issues.
  • Creates complex documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information, and supports others in ensuring system configurations documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Provides complex application-oriented administration and technical support for production and non-production environments.
  • Leads hardware and software changes into environments and one or more additional IT production environments by performing impact analyses of system changes.
  • Develops guidelines to prevent and/or resolve recurring problems.
  • Recommends and executes complex performance tuning and optimization activities.
  • Evaluates new complex application packages and identifies anticipated systems requirements for planning purposes.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum four (4) years experience working with EPIC or comparable health system software OR Minimum four (4) years scripting or programming experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years in a leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care or related field and Minimum eight (8) years working in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Epic Certification(s)
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide Epic initiatives.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party healthcare applications.
  • Experience in large integrated health systems.
