Job Summary:
Carpenter Technology Corporation is a leading producer and distributor of premium specialty alloys, including titanium alloys and stainless steels. They are seeking a Software Engineer to provide advanced infrastructure management, develop technology solutions, and manage complex products and services.
Responsibilities:
• Provides an advanced capability in one or more areas of infrastructure management and support or project management.
• Researches, evaluates, designs, develops, installs, and maintains technology solutions (hardware and software) for the corporate infrastructure using advanced development and system support skill set.
• Demonstrates sound business, technical and fiscal judgment on behalf of the department and company to recommend and implement solutions to complex infrastructure issues.
• Manages the physical delivery and ongoing support of complex products/services, applications, network systems and overall solutions.
• Provides technical leadership in the performance of complex systems upgrades, workstation setups and server configurations.
• Maintains software and hardware inventories.
• Assists less experienced Analysts with non-standard requests.
• Career may advance along a more technical track (e.g. as a network specialist) or in the area of project management.
• Complexity of assignments and level of supervision is commensurate with the position level and years of experience.
• Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Associate’s degree required.
• Ten to fifteen years of related experience.
• Business/Functional Expertise: Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends best practices in own function. Has developed depth and breadth of expertise in own function.
• Project Management: Effectively manages projects or teams, including coordination of resources outside of own area. Forecasts and plans resource requirements for projects or teams.
• Financial Management: Monitors and controls costs for own work and may manage costs/budgets for large projects or areas.
• Broad knowledge of Carpenter IT systems and business.
• Knowledge of relevant infrastructure technologies including but not limited to: Mainframe operating systems and software, Storage hardware and software, Network hardware, software, and cabling, Network Services – voice and data, PC and server hardware and operating systems.
• Problem Solving: Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
• Position requires experience with inspecting, testing, writing and troubleshooting application source code (C#).
• Develop solutions using Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft SQL Server/SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft Azure DevOps with git.
• Programming N-Tier Web Applications (Browser/Web Server/Database Server) using Blazor and Telerik for Blazor Control Library.
• Use of Microsoft Active Directory and Groups for Authentication and Authorization.
• Targeting Microsoft .Net Framework (Core).
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
