About the Team

The CoreHR group (also known as HRIS / People Data) is made up of 8 teams with dedicated ownership and an overall mission of growing and enhancing the services and products in the HR domain. Position Management team sits at the heart of Paylocity’s People Data ecosystem.

We provide the source of truth for company and employee positions, making it simple and reliable for clients and internal product teams to create, manage, and use position data. Our platform powers experiences across the HCM suite, and we also offer a full-featured application that HR teams use directly to model their organization, plan changes, and keep their data clean and consistent. We are a product platform team that cares about reliable partnerships with the product teams that consume our data.

The team collaborates closely with product and UX partners in the United States while remaining fully co-located in CZ. The technical stack includes containerized .NET services, ReactJS, AWS, OpenSearch, and Amazon Bedrock, supporting modern, scalable search and AI-driven experiences.

Senior Engineer Software leads technical initiatives and drives engineering excellence across our organization. This role combines technical expertise with leadership capabilities, focusing on architecting scalable solutions while mentoring and growing the engineering team.

  • Architect and implement modular, maintainable software solutions that optimize for performance and scalability
  • Lead feature and epic design discussions, gathering and incorporating feedback from cross-functional teams
  • Drive technical decision-making with consideration for business objectives and customer needs
  • Identify and resolve technical ambiguities through systematic analysis and collaboration
  • Own medium to large-scale projects from conception to delivery, requiring minimal supervision

Education and Experience

Technical Skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend engineering
  • Strong experience building backend systems using .NET / C# (preferred) or a comparable backend stack, with the ability to contribute at a senior level
  • Deep understanding of modern API standards and backend system design (REST, authentication, authorization, versioning, scalability)
  • Experience designing and operating systems backed by PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other databases
  • Strong understanding of backend architecture, data modeling, performance tuning, and reliability
  • Proven experience designing and implementing testable systems, including unit tests, integration tests, and automated test strategies
  • Ability to design and deliver backend solutions with a focus on maintainability, scalability, and long-term evolution
  • Experience making or influencing architectural decisions in collaboration with other engineers
  • Basic understanding of frontend technologies and how frontend applications interact with APIs
  • Ability to own backend components or services end-to-end, including design, implementation, and maintenance
  • Ability to work effectively in an agile, cross-functional, English-speaking team
  • Commitment to delivery and accountability for technical quality
  • Passion for writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code

Physical requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods: The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods, typically 7-8 hours a day.
