The SharePoint Lead directs the design, administration, and optimization of enterprise SharePoint environments that host collaboration sites, content repositories, and business applications. The role designs and maintains SharePoint farms, site collections, and supporting web services to ensure availability, performance, and security for distributed users in a federal IT environment.

Working closely with stakeholders, the lead develops solutions such as workflows, custom pages, and integrations that streamline content management and collaboration. Mapped to the IT Administrator III standard job, this position also contributes deep Microsoft platform expertise across operating systems, cloud services, and digital workspace technologies, helping integrate SharePoint into a broader enterprise services ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, configure, and administer SharePoint farms, web applications, and site collections, including service applications and supporting web services.

  • Develop and maintain SharePoint solutions such as lists, libraries, content types, pages, workflows, and web parts to meet business and compliance requirements.

  • Integrate SharePoint with related technologies—including Active Directory, SQL Server, IIS, and external line‑of‑business systems—to provide seamless user access and data exchange.

  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and security controls for SharePoint content, including permissions, SSL certificate usage, and available compliance features.

  • Plan, install, configure, and optimize web servers and applications as part of the overall web‑services landscape, collaborating with infrastructure teams as needed.

  • Monitor performance, usage, and capacity for SharePoint and related web services, diagnosing issues and implementing tuning or remediation actions.

  • Create and maintain detailed operational documentation, connectivity diagrams, procedures, and inventories for SharePoint and web services to support repeatable operations and audits.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in SharePoint and web‑services administration, and work with team members to implement efficiencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • 7–10 years of experience in information technology or systems administration, including substantial experience managing and maintaining SharePoint and web services in large or complex environments.

  • Proficiency with web server technologies such as Microsoft IIS and related platforms, plus advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and products including SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and Teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system, web‑services, or SharePoint issues, including performance and integration problems.

  • Experience planning and coordinating deployment of new technologies and upgrades, with strong documentation skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Strong customer‑service orientation, communication skills, and teamwork, with the ability to mentor junior team members on complex issues.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust investigation and to work in a U.S.‑only federal IT context, with U.S. citizenship as specified.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft 365 or SharePoint‑specific certifications, and/or CompTIA A+ or ITIL certification.

  • Experience leading SharePoint migrations or major version upgrades and integrating SharePoint with cloud infrastructure and digital workspace solutions.

  • Background using web analytics tools, supporting accessibility and Section 508 compliance, and managing the lifecycle of web applications.
