Job description

Baker Roofing Company – New Construction Senior Estimator (Charlotte)The New Construction Senior Estimator prices and sells assigned projects while supporting department-wide development. This role demands accuracy, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure. Senior Estimators are expected to mentor junior team members, collaborate across departments, and contribute to the overall growth of the Estimating team. 
This position will require relocation to Charlotte, NC.
This is not a remote opportunity and based in our Charlotte office.

 RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The lists below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
 Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Industry Experience: At least 3 years of estimating experience, 5+ years preferred
  • Commercial Roofing Knowledge: Must have extensive knowledge of low-slope roofing systems (single-ply, modified bitumen, etc. Must also have working knowledge of sheet metal, wall panels, shingles, and Hydrotech systems
  • Industry Standards: Must have familiarity with NRCA, SMACNA, building codes, and BRC field practices

Essential FunctionsProject Bidding
  • Download bid documents, assess project scope, and plan for timely completion
  • Review specs, drawings, and details to ensure full understanding and compliance
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits as needed
  • Submit RFIs, clarification requests, and substitution requests by deadline
  • Obtain and evaluate material and subcontractor quotes
  • Produce accurate take-offs and complete estimates using sound judgment
  • Participate in bid reviews and submit complete proposals with scope, spec references, and exclusions
  • Maintain CRM with up-to-date bid status and follow-up activity
  • Build GC/customer relationships to secure last-look opportunities on pricing
  • Perform pre-construction budget evaluations and value engineering assessments
 
Project Award & Handoff
  • Review and negotiate contracts for scope accuracy and correct pricing
  • Produce project fact sheet, schedule of values, and billing information
  • Lead or participate in project start meetings and complete action items
  • Review submittals for accuracy and cost-effectiveness
  • Support other departments in completing their responsibilities

Team Development
  • Mentor and train new and existing estimators
  • Serve as a resource for the estimating team; provide guidance as needed
  • Lead or participate in special departmental projects
Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily office-based with moderate noise. Occasional site visits requiring ladder climbing. Driving required; occasional travel by air. Close visual work with computers and documents.
