Overview

Company: PSG

PSG, a fast-growing construction and infrastructure firm specializing in mission-critical environments, is seeking a skilled Junior Electrician to join our team on a high-profile data center construction project in Lordstown, Ohio. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary power distribution systems, as well as supporting permanent electrical installation work on an active construction site. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced construction environments, values operational excellence and safety, and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship.
This is an entry-level position designed to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in mission-critical data center environments. The role emphasizes strict adherence to safety protocols while learning specialized data center electrical standards under the direct guidance of senior team members.
This role will initially support a 6-month data center construction project based in Lordstown, Ohio, with a strong pipeline of follow-on projects nationwide. This is not a short-term assignment โ€” upon successful completion of the first project, you will transition directly to subsequent projects, offering long-term career stability and growth.2. Duties

  • Installation Support: Assist senior electricians with the installation of electrical systems including switchgear, UPS, PDUs, generators, busducts, and cabling under direct supervision. Perform basic wiring, conduit installation, and equipment mounting according to drawings and safety standards. Support the setup, maintenance, and removal of temporary power distribution systems on the active construction site.
  • Safety & Compliance: Strictly follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash protection, and NFPA 70E requirements. Participate in daily safety briefings (toolbox talks) and report any hazards immediately.
  • Learning & Development: Actively learn data center electrical systems, redundancy concepts (N+1, 2N), and industry standards (Uptime Institute, TIA-942). Support testing, commissioning, and documentation activities.
  • Team Support: Help with material handling, tool maintenance, and site housekeeping. Assist in maintaining accurate daily logs and as-built documentation.
3. Must-Haves as the Junior Electrician

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 0โ€“3 years of electrical experience or a completed apprenticeship program.
  • Licensing: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to project sites.
  • Physical Requirements: Physically fit and able to work in data center environments (raised floors, tight spaces, PPE required).
  • Soft Skills: Strong safety mindset, willingness to learn, and basic English communication skills.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment with a focus on operational excellence and quality workmanship.
4. Nice-to-Haves as the Junior Electrician

  • Technical/vocational training in electrical work preferred.
  • Basic Mandarin Chinese communication skills (spoken or written) โ€” a plus for coordination with diverse project stakeholders.
  • Prior experience on construction sites, especially in industrial or mission-critical facilities.
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical fundamentals and blueprint reading.
5. Benefits

  • Compensation: Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience and qualifications. Overtime opportunities available.
  • Benefits Package Includes:
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with company match
  • Life Insurance and Short/Long-Term Disability Coverage
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays
  • Career Growth: Clear pathway to advance to Journeyman Electrician, Lead Electrician, and supervisory roles as you gain experience and certifications within our growing national project pipeline.
  • Relocation: Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates moving to Ohio.
6. Experience

  • 0โ€“3 years of electrical work experience, or completion of an electrical apprenticeship program.
  • Hands-on exposure to tools, wiring, and construction site protocols is a strong advantage, though full training on data center specifics will be provided.
7. License / Certification

  • Required to Obtain (within first 30โ€“60 days): OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 preferred), CPR/First Aid certification, and basic electrical safety fundamentals training.
  • Long-Term Development: Willingness to pursue a Journeyman Electrician license and specialized data center certifications (e.g., CDCP) as part of career progression.
  • A valid state-issued driverโ€™s license is required.
8. Ability to Relocate

  • Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
  • This role requires full-time, on-site presence at the Lordstown, Ohio project campus. Upon completion of the initial project, you will transition to follow-on projects nationwide, so flexibility and willingness to relocate to future project sites are essential for long-term success.
9. Work Location

  • Primary Location: Lordstown, Ohio, United States (Data Center Construction Campus).
  • Initial Assignment: 6-month project based in Lordstown.
  • Future Assignments: Nationwide project pipeline with continuity of employment; candidates must be open to travel or relocation to subsequent project sites as the company grows.
