What is a junior recipe developer?

Junior Recipe Developers are entry-level professionals who assist in creating, testing, and refining recipes for cookbooks, food blogs, restaurants, or food companies. They work under the guidance of senior chefs or recipe developers to ensure recipes are accurate, easy to follow, and appealing. Their responsibilities often include researching food trends, preparing dishes, documenting instructions, and helping with food photography or video production. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food, with strong attention to detail and creativity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a junior recipe developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Junior Recipe Developer, you need a solid understanding of culinary techniques, food safety, and ingredient functionality, typically supported by formal culinary education or equivalent experience. Familiarity with recipe management software, digital kitchen scales, and basic food photography tools is often required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills help you excel in developing and testing recipes collaboratively. These skills ensure recipes are innovative, reliable, and appealing, which is crucial for consumer satisfaction and brand consistency.

Job description

About Us

Dorsia is at the forefront of hospitality-tech innovation, redefining how the world gains access to the most in-demand restaurants, events, and experiences. By fusing cutting-edge technology with the art of luxury hospitality, we empower our members to secure impossible-to-get reservations while providing operators with unprecedented levels of control, visibility, and revenue optimization.

In 2025, we grew revenue 480% and scaled to 400+ venues across 25 destinations, with the launch of our Culture Calendar extending Dorsia beyond restaurants into the world's most sought-after cultural moments.

Backed by $54M in funding from investors including Index Ventures, Invus, and Red Sea Ventures, and strategic partners including MoonPay, Major Food Group, and The Dinex Group - Daniel Boulud, we are entering our most consequential phase of growth and reshaping the global hospitality landscape. We're adding exceptional talent to drive what comes next, and that's where you come in.

About the Role

Dorsia is seeking a Product Engineer to join our nimble, high-impact team. You'll work across the stack, shipping core product features, scaling systems, and improving the user experience. You'll use cutting-edge tools, including AI-powered development environments, cloud-native platforms, and fast feedback loops to accelerate delivery and improve quality.

Our frontend is built in React Native, serving both iOS and Android users from a single codebase. On the backend, we use PHP and TypeScript to power a scalable set of services. You'll work closely with product, design, and operations to craft experiences that delight our members and unlock growth.

What You'll Do:
  • Architect, implement, and ship production code across mobile (React Native), backend (PHP and TypeScript), and infrastructure.
  • Use AI-powered tools to prototype, debug, and automate work faster, reducing repetitive effort.
  • Contribute across the stack, tackling UI polish, system performance, backend logic, and operational tooling with equal enthusiasm.
  • Collaborate directly with product, design, and operations to define requirements and ship user-facing improvements.
  • Write clean, testable code and help establish practices that keep the codebase healthy as the team grows.
The Winning Recipe
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-7 years of fullstack engineering experience, ideally on fast-moving product teams.
  • Full stack experience across React Native, TypeScript, and a server-side language such as PHP or Python.
  • Track record of building with AI, from agentic workflows to AI-native features, as a core part of how you ship product.
  • High agency and ownership mindset, shipping and unblocking yourself without waiting on others.
  • Strong product sense and a sharp eye for user experience, ideally shaped by time in hospitality, luxury, or marketplace products.
  • Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, Vercel, or Cloudflare.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL and REST API design is a plus.
  • Comfort with SQL, Redis, and modern deployment workflows is a plus.

Compensation is based on your experience and the scope of the role. Final compensation is based on factors like experience, location, and internal equity. This role also includes equity and a full suite of benefits. Typical base salary ranges are:

  • Junior level: $100,000-$160,000
  • Mid level: $150,000-$200,000
  • Senior level: $190,000-$250,000
