Job description

Sterling Stamping Plant is currently seeking a Quality Control Engineer / Supervisor to join our Quality team. The Quality Control Engineer / Supervisor is responsible for stamping plant product and process control applications utilizing quality control methodologies. The selected candidate is expected to develop and implement new and sustainable processes in a manufacturing environment. This position offers this elected candidate an opportunity to be an internal part of a company whose focus is to change the automotive landscape and to launch a successful career with a major automotive company known in the industry for style. The Quality team's fast paced dynamic environment is the ideal environment for the entry-level or seasoned engineer to gain exposure to real world challenges and rewarding experiences. Additionally, the selected candidate will gain hands-on experience to develop their business acumen providing a solid foundation and potential to become a future leader. The Quality Control Engineer expert must be a creative problem solver, proactive and steadfast in the identification and resolution vehicle quality.
Specific Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Provide technical leadership in coordinating and directing cross functional teams in the application of quality initiatives to employ root cause analysis, issue resolution and to establish corrective actions
  • Provide supervision necessary to quality inspectors and repair technicians in compliance with engineering and quality standards Enthusiastically learn and support quality principles and tools
  • Learn and apply basic and advanced problem-solving tools and methodologies
  • Analyze quality defect data through stratification and mechanical engineering principles
  • Track and manage quality related issues
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts through the use of Kaizen activities, benchmarking, evaluating others best practices, reviewing lessons learned, etc.
  • Respond to product quality issues utilizing available data
  • Employ the standardization of best practices to ensure quality products
  • Work with internal teams to develop and implement integrated content required to drive growth and maximize customer value
  • Analyze and drive improvement to quality indicators
  • Provide creative thinking to the analysis of data and the identification of new opportunities

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or technical related field
  • Experience in Manufacturing Demonstrated experience managing union employees
  • Self-directed, team oriented with demonstrated planning/problem solving skills
  • Motivated to learn new principles and ideas, and have excitement in applying these new principles
  • Motivated to make a positive impact in the work environment and on the quality of the products produced
  • Computer proficient (including spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and database applications)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with quality control systems and methodologies
  • Previous experience working in a union and manufacturing environment
  • Formal problem-solving training / experience (green / black belt, Shainin, etc)
  • Automotive experience in Body in White or Stamping
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite software programs
