Job description

Senior Copywriter

We’re an in-house marketing team that operates at scale: more mediums, more projects, and more creative work published than most writers encounter in a typical role. We’re talking 360 marketing: print, digital, email, video scripts, billboards, social, and more are all on the table. The output is high; the bar is higher.

We’re looking for someone who thinks before they write. Someone who understands why a customer chooses one product over another and knows how to speak to that truth with precision. This role sits at the intersection of creative copywriting and business acumen. The ideal candidate will contribute to WeatherTech’s overall messaging direction together with the creative leadership team.

Candidates without a portfolio will not be considered. Automotive experience will be weighted heavily. Please note that this is an onsite role at our corporate office in Bolingbrook, IL.

As a Senior Copywriter, you will

  • Develop copy across a high volume of projects spanning print, digital, OOH, video, email, and paid media, often simultaneously
  • Translate product features and brand positioning into clear, persuasive messaging across the full marketing funnel
  • Apply consumer psychology principles to inform tone, structure, and narrative, understanding what motivates action and builds trust
  • Collaborate with creative directors, designers, and strategists to ensure copy and concept are working together
  • Write and refine headlines, taglines, CTAs, long-form content, and scripts, adapting voice for both the medium and audience
  • Contribute strategic thinking to overall campaign development, not just execution
  • Manage multiple deadlines with precision while communicating clearly on scope and timelines
  • Develop successful rapport and workflows with our creative agency and third-party vendors
  • Accept feedback on work gracefully, understanding overall work as iterative vs. finite
  • Serve as a quality bar for copy across the team, catching voice inconsistencies and missed opportunities to sharpen a concept
  • Coach and mentor junior creatives
  • Navigate collaborative proofing and review cycles with ease, managing feedback and versioning efficiently
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of copywriting experience with a portfolio demonstrating range across mediums
  • Client-side or agency background (Required)
  • Automotive industry experience (Preferred)
  • Deep understanding of consumer psychology and purchase-driving behavior (Required)
  • Ability to read a brief, ask the right questions, and deliver copy that solves for the objective
  • A proactive approach to work culture, you are someone who speaks up without being solicited
  • Strong strategic instincts alongside precise execution
  • Comfort with high volume, fast pivots, and ambiguity, without sacrificing quality
  • A sharp eye for nuance in tone, audience, and timing
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools including Asana, the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence), and Microsoft Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: able to view, annotate, and navigate creative files without needing a designer to hold your hand
  • Experience with collaborative proofing platforms for managing review cycles, versioning, and stakeholder feedback
  • Be authorized to work in the United States
