Job Description
Hirani Engineering is seeking a Project Officer to support the delivery of NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) projects in Queens and the Bronx. This role is responsible for managing construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and regulatory requirements.
The Project Officer operates as an owner's representative, coordinating across design, construction, and stakeholder teams while supporting overall project performance and execution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
PROJECT MANAGEMENT & EXECUTION
  • Manage all phases of SCA construction projects, including planning, design coordination, construction, and closeout
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and milestones to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Identify risks and support implementation of mitigation strategies

DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION COORDINATION
  • Review and coordinate design documents, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Work with architects and engineers to ensure constructability and compliance
  • Assist in resolving technical and field-related issues

FIELD OVERSIGHT & STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION
  • Serve as liaison between contractors, construction managers, SCA representatives, and school personnel
  • Conduct site visits and monitor construction progress
  • Support coordination of work within active school environments with attention to safety and operations

CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION & PROBLEM SOLVING
  • Assist in evaluating change orders, contractor proposals, and field directives
  • Support documentation and tracking of project changes, claims, and scope adjustments
  • Contribute to resolving project issues to maintain schedule and quality

TEAM SUPPORT & COORDINATION
  • Collaborate with Project Officers and senior team members on project delivery
  • Provide guidance to junior staff or support team coordination as needed
  • Contribute to maintaining consistency in project execution and documentation

QUALITY & COMPLIANCE
  • Ensure compliance with NYC Building Code, SCA standards, and contract requirements
  • Maintain project documentation aligned with SCA protocols
  • Support adherence to safety, quality, and performance standards

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
  • 3-7 years of experience in construction or project management
  • Experience working on SCA or public agency projects preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, scheduling, and contract administration
  • Strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

WORK LOCATION
  • Projects located in Queens and the Bronx
  • Combination of field and office responsibilities
  • Work schedule is 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

SALARY $58 - $60 PER HOUR
