Platform Engineer

Join a mission focused team supporting the modernization, automation, and secure delivery of enterprise software capabilities for the Department of Defense. As a Platform Engineer, you will help design, develop, and enhance a modern application platform leveraging Kubernetes, container services, and DevSecOps pipelines. You will collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and security professionals to streamline delivery, improve automation, and mature platform services supporting continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).

You will apply hands‑on experience with modern developer tooling, container orchestration, infrastructure automation, and RMF‑aligned best practices to strengthen platform reliability and developer experience across the organization. This role also provides opportunities to lead small teams, mentor junior engineers, and help define platform standards, processes, and technical direction.

You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience with DoD RMF and STIGs
  • 5+ years of experience with automation, including Git workflows, package and dependency management, and scripting
  • Experience researching tools and contributing to platform development, including processes, standards, and procedures
  • Experience collaborating with software developers to enhance platform capabilities and improve delivery efficiency and providing technical guidance on architecting, researching, and implementing tools aligned to DoD security and compliance best practices
  • Experience optimizing CI/CD workflows, including build and package automation, pipeline tooling integration, and secure delivery processes
  • Experience with developer and platform tooling, such as Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, Harbor, Nexus, and Jira
  • Experience with containerized applications, including deployment automation using YAML, and Unix shell scripting or command-line tooling
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and system administration in air‑gapped or isolated environments, or 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and system administration in air‑gapped or isolated environments in lieu of a degree
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification, such as Security+ CE

  • Experience contributing to Agile‑based team ceremonies and workflows
  • Ability to enhance developer workflows and overall developer experience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve technical challenges efficiently
  • Possession of strong problem solving, deconfliction, and issue resolution skills
  • Possession of strong verbal and written communication skills

Compensation:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,500.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for this position.
