Position Description


The Manager of Site Operations is responsible for leading daily operations and on-site logistics for JA BizTown and JA Finance Park onsite student experience at the JA Discovery Center of Gwinnett to deepen the JA experience and strengthen the JA brand. The JA Discovery Center of Gwinnett is a 50,000 sq. ft. facility that serves 40+ local middle school students daily with authentic, relevant, and experiential learning programs that combine in-class curriculum with a capstone simulation. In addition, the JA Discovery Center of Gwinnett serves as a hub of frequent business and community events in connection with the 200+ corporate partners that support JA throughout the state.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Ensure the facility is in a constant state of operational readiness through preventative maintenance and timely repairs. This includes, but is not limited to opening/closing facility, coffee set up, morning calls, lunch calls, etc.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot common issues with simulation software, storefront technology, and additional facility (theatre, classroom, boardroom, printer, etc.) resources/technology.
  • Assist in the inventory tracking for all simulation resources (tablets, props, giveaways, program materials, etc.) and office supplies anticipating and restocking as necessary.
  • Accurately track and monitor expenditures related to facility operations according to established budget (i.e. lunches, office supplies, etc.)
  • Always maintain safety and security of space, especially when students are on site.


Secondary Responsibilities


  • Support designing and executing a best-in-class learning experience during student JA BizTown and JA Finance Park visits, aligning simulations with curriculum learning objectives and creating authentic application opportunities.
  • Assist in managing onsite engagement of up to 150 students per day by coordinating daily simulation schedule (approximately 4 hours) and other logistics to ensure completion of simulation and understanding of key financial principles/relationships.
  • Provide support throughout the simulation to 20-40 volunteers to help them coach students by applying their personal experiences within the context of the simulations.


Program Quality


  • Coordinate daily logistics for program experiences with JA team members and participating schools to ensure that students have a best-in-class learning experience (i.e. opening/closing, parking, arrival/departure, technology, etc.).
  • Facilitate volunteer training and JA BizTown/JA Finance Park simulations when the primary team member is unavailable.
  • Advance special projects for simulations under the direction of Director of Operations and JA BizTown/JA Finance Park simulations leads.

  • Deliver a best-in-class experience for every student, volunteer, educator, and guest that participates in the JA BizTown and JA Finance Park programs and other events held at the JA Discovery Center.
  • Steward partner organizationsโ€™ brands within the JA BizTown and JA Finance Park programs to provide a strong return on investment.
  • Support events, tour, and other meetings ensuring that partners and guests have a best-in-class experience, including after hours and/or weekends

Qualifications: Education & Experience


  • 3-5 years of experience in event planning or operations
  • Familiarity working in a fast-paced environment with students
