Job description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
The Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure. This role works independently on day-to-day operations while collaborating with senior engineers on complex projects. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 7 years of networking experience and a strong understanding of enterprise routing, switching, security, and network operations.
Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
  • Apply knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems/projects
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center networks.
  • Experience in deploying and troubleshooting Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or equivalent networking equipment.
  • Experience in managing advanced routing protocols, including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
  • Experience in configuring Layer 2 technologies, including VLANs, STP, EtherChannel/LACP, and trunking.
  • Experience in supporting secure VPN technologies, including IPsec and SSL VPNs.
  • Experience in firewall policy implementation and network address translation (NAT) configuration.
  • Experience in troubleshooting network outages using packet captures and protocol analysis.
  • Experience in monitoring network performance and recommending operational improvements.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining industry-standard network security best practices.
  • Experience in participating in formal change management processes and scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Experience in documenting network configurations, topology diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Experience in managing Cisco Voice over IP (VoIP) servers and end equipment.
  • Experience in assisting with the execution of disaster recovery and high-availability solutions.
  • Experience in providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Experience in participating in a scheduled on-call rotation as required.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.
In addition, a Field Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:
  • Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable senior technical contributor-level performance on complex projects or programs
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Planning/organizational skills

SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $83,200.000 to $145,600.00 annually.
Note: The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4 considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market/business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required.
Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
