Job Description:
z/OS System programmer
System Installation and Maintenance: Install new z/VM operating systems, apply updates, and maintain system security. Customize the OS and related software to meet organizational requirements, including upgrades and configuration of system libraries and automation tools.
Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize settings to ensure efficient processing of workloads such as banking transactions or airline reservations .
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve system issues promptly to minimize business impact. This includes debugging system software, handling incidents, and coordinating with vendors for technical support .
Daily Operations: Conduct system health checks, manage backups and recovery processes, apply patches, and provide user support. Ensure that the mainframe environment meets service level agreements, especially in 24/7 operational settings .
Project Support and Leadership: Participate in technical projects, including installation and testing of new system software. Provide guidance to junior team members, mentor colleagues, and contribute to automation strategies and best practices .
