Senior Estimator / Chief Estimator

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Houston, TX 77029
Experience: 10+ years

Pay Rate: $93-115k/annual

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator / Chief Estimator with approximately 10 years of industrial fabrication estimating experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating fabricated steel and industrial projects, interpreting drawings and specifications, developing accurate project costs, and working closely with customers, vendors, engineers, and production teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed estimates and bids for industrial fabrication projects.
  • Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Develop accurate material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
  • Calculate quantities, material takeoffs, fabrication hours, and production requirements.
  • Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Communicate with customers and project teams to clarify scope and specifications.
  • Identify potential project risks, cost changes, and scope gaps.
  • Prepare competitive and profitable proposals for management review.
  • Work closely with engineering, purchasing, production, and project management.
  • Track estimating performance and help improve estimating procedures.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to junior estimators.
  • Maintain organized records of bids, pricing, historical costs, and project data.
  • Assist with change-order pricing and project cost analysis.
  • Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and completed within required deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial fabrication estimating preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial fabrication processes and materials.
  • Experience estimating structural steel, sheet metal, pipe, equipment, skids, platforms, and/or custom fabricated components.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of labor hours, material costs, fabrication methods, and shop capabilities.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
