About the role

Must currently reside in the Cleveland, Ohio area. This position is not remote and does not offer visa sponsorship.

infinIT is seeking a Senior Systems & Network Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and being the highest-level escalation point. This role is designed for a highly capable engineer who is strongest in Windows Server environments and comfortable working across networking, virtualization, and cloud technologies.

You will serve as a senior technical resource within our Service Delivery team, leading escalations, supporting infrastructure projects, and mentoring other engineers. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, ownership of technical challenges, and the ability to work complex issues to completion.

The Senior Systems & Network Engineer works closely with the Service Delivery Manager and helps strengthen the technical capabilities of the entire Service Delivery team through mentorship, guidance, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex systems and network issues
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis across server, network, and virtualization environments
  • Take ownership of critical issues and ensure they are resolved completely

Systems & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Design, implement, and support Windows Server environments across client networks
  • Manage virtualization platforms, including Hyper-V and VMware environments
  • Support Microsoft 365 cloud services

Networking

  • Support firewall and switching platforms such as SonicWall, Cisco Meraki, and Ubiquiti
  • Troubleshoot routing, switching, VPN, and connectivity issues

Project Engineering

  • Lead infrastructure projects including server deployments, migrations, network upgrades, and cloud integrations
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions

Telephony Systems

  • Assist with deployment and support of 3CX, Switchvox, Netsapiens, and Microsoft Teams Phone

Documentation & Standards

  • Maintain accurate documentation within our documentation platform
  • Contribute to technical standards and best practices across client environments

Technical Experience

Required

  • Strong expertise with Windows Server administration and troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting SMB network environments
  • Advanced troubleshooting across servers, networking, and infrastructure
  • Experience with Microsoft 365
  • Experience with Hyper-V and VMware virtualization

Preferred

  • Experience supporting SonicWall, Cisco Meraki, or Ubiquiti networking
  • Experience supporting VoIP systems
  • Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment
  • Experience with Azure infrastructure
  • Experience with ConnectWise and DattoRMM is a plus

Certifications (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Microsoft certifications
  • Cisco certifications
  • SonicWall certifications

Equivalent real-world experience is valued as highly as formal certifications.
