Full-Stack Developer

Location: Wentzville, MO - ON SITE
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $40,000-$60,000 per year, based on relevant experience and demonstrated skills

Join Midtown Home Improvements

Since 1990, Midtown Home Improvements has been serving customers across the St. Louis region. We are a local roofing and general contracting company with more than 300 employees and five locations.

Our Technology Department develops and supports proprietary software used throughout the company. We are looking for a Full-Stack Developer to join our small, collaborative technology and help desk team and take real ownership of the applications and tools you build.

This is an opportunity to work on software that is actually used by our employees every day-not just theoretical projects or client work.

THIS JOB IS NOT REMOTE AND REQUIRES WORK ON SITE IN WENTZVILLE, MO

What You'll Do
  • Build, test, and deploy full-stack features for internal business applications.
  • Develop clean, user-friendly interfaces using Vue and Nuxt.
  • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and business logic using Node.js and NestJS.
  • Work with Prisma, PostgreSQL, and Redis to manage data and improve application performance.
  • Participate in Git-based development, including pull requests, code reviews, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Work closely with team members and internal stakeholders to understand problems and build practical solutions.
  • Maintain and improve existing applications while developing new functionality.
AI-Assisted Development

AI-assisted development is a standard part of our technology workflow. We use approved AI tools to assist with research, coding, documentation, testing, and problem-solving.

You will be expected to review and validate AI-generated work, protect company and customer information, and take ownership of the quality and security of everything you ship.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on developer who enjoys solving problems and building useful software. Professional experience is important, but we care more about what you can actually build and maintain than simply checking every box.

Required Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience building and maintaining production web applications, or equivalent experience demonstrating meaningful software development.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Experience with Vue, Nuxt, React, Angular, or another modern frontend framework, with the ability to become productive in a Vue/Nuxt environment.
  • Experience with Node.js and backend development. NestJS is preferred, but Express, Fastify, or similar experience is valuable.
  • Experience working with SQL databases and an ORM.
  • Understanding of database schema changes and migrations.
  • Experience with Git, pull requests, testing, and debugging.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, work independently, and collaborate with a small team.
Nice-to-Have Experience
  • Vue 3 / Nuxt 3
  • NestJS
  • Prisma
  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis
  • Tailwind CSS
  • Docker
  • CI/CD
  • Python
  • Ionic
  • AI tools, LLMs, or API integrations
Why Work at Midtown?
  • $40,000-$60,000 annual salary, based on relevant experience and demonstrated skills
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for the employee
  • 401(k) matching
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Annual international company trip - Mexico, Jamaica, and more
  • Opportunity to work on proprietary software used throughout a growing company
  • Meaningful in-house work with visibility, ownership, and room to grow
  • Small, collaborative technology team with meaningful ownership and responsibility
How to Apply

Send us your resume, GitHub or portfolio links, and a short note about why this role interests you.

We want to meet thoughtful builders who want their work to matter. If you don't have a year of professional experience but have completed a bona fide coding bootcamp or similar program, don't be afraid to apply. We care about what you can build and your ability to learn and contribute.
